Tonight is the Night to Celebrate New Hampshire Arts!

April 24, 2008—Tickets are still available to join the Governor, First Lady, and the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts at the Colonial Theatre in Keene for the state’s biennial Governor’s Awards in the Arts. Don’t miss this chance to congratulate award recipients-- Phoebe Ann Neiswenter, Drika Overton, the Bloomfield Family, Marilyn Ziffrin, Harvey Tolman, and Ken Burns—and to come together as New Hampshire’s arts community. The show starts at 7 p.m.

Bob Shea, Saint Anselm’s Dana Center Director and New Hampshire Citizens for the Arts board member, will be the Master of Ceremonies. Performances include: classical guitar music by Jose Lezcano, a ballet by MoCo’s advanced student dancers to the music of Beethoven, a poetry recitation by New Hampshire’s Poetry Out Loud state champion Laura Messner, a choral work by Marilyn Ziffrin sung by the Dartmouth Chamber Singers, and fiddle tunes by Harvey Tolman and Friends.

For more information go to www.nh.gov/nharts. For tickets, come to the box office at the Colonial Theatre before 7 p.m. General Admission is $18. (Preferred, reserved seating is sold out.)

Sponsors for this event are: Chicago-Soft, Lincoln Financial Group, WMUR Channel 9’s New Hampshire Chronicle, The Gilbert Verney Foundation, Kingsbury Foundation, Putman Foundation, Northeast Delta Dental, Public Service of New Hampshire, C & S Wholesale Grocers, L.A. Burdicks, The Colonial Theatre Group, CA Inc., Gartner Inc., and numerous private donors.
